Ogun APC Reacts To Oat—Taking Publication

The attention of the Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a malicious, unfounded, and libellous publication circulating on social media and other digital platforms, which makes wild and unsubstantiated allegations against the party and its leaders.

In a press statement signed by Hon. Nuberu, Adesanya Olufemi, Director of Publicity, All Progressives Congress (APC),, Ogun State Chapter., The party wishes to state unequivocally that the publication is entirely false, baseless, and politically motivated. It is a deliberate attempt by agents of disunity and detractors to undermine the integrity of the APC, its dedicated leaders, and the peaceful political environment in Ogun State.

The APC categorically denies the existence of any ritual oath-taking event involving its members or leaders. The claims are not only fabricated but also designed to incite public disaffection, spread fear, and damage the reputation of the party and its officials. The event described in the publication is a complete fiction, and the party dissociates itself entirely from such irresponsible reporting.

As a law-abiding and responsible political organisation, the APC operates strictly within the framework of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, and its own constitution. While oath-taking is a recognised constitutional practice for affirming loyalty and service to the nation, it is strictly regulated by the Oaths Act, which outlines the qualifications of authorised persons to administer oaths and the purposes for which they may be administered. The APC condemns any action that contravenes these legal and ethical standards.

In response to these allegations, the party has initiated a thorough internal review. All members mentioned in the publication have been contacted and have unequivocally denied any involvement in such activities. To ensure transparency and accountability, the Ogun State APC will be constituting an independent fact-finding committee to investigate the source and motivation behind these false claims. The findings of this committee will be made available to the public in due course.

The party challenges the purveyors of this falsehood and anyone with credible evidence to come forward and formally present such proof to the Ogun State APC Secretariat. Should any registered member of the party be found engaging in unlawful or unconstitutional activities, swift disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the party’s guidelines.

The APC further warns those behind this malicious publication to desist from spreading falsehoods. The party reserves the right to pursue all legal remedies, including civil and criminal actions, against individuals or groups involved in defaming its image or that of its members.

The public is hereby urged to disregard the publication in its entirety and to rely only on official communications from the party through recognised channels.

The APC remains focused on its mission to promote unity, development, and good governance in Ogun State and will not be distracted by the antics of desperate political elements.
