OMO-ADE Hails OgunTeach Recruitment as 448 Interns Receive Engagement Letters

APC chieftain says move will drastically cut unemployment, curb social vices

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Alhaji Yisa Ismaila Adebayo, popularly known as OMO-ADE, has commended the Ogun State Government for engaging 448 OgunTeach interns, describing the initiative as a major step toward reducing unemployment in the state.

Alhaji Adebayo gave the commendation following the issuance of engagement and posting letters to the successful applicants, noting that the recruitment would not only provide jobs for young graduates but also contribute significantly to curbing social vices associated with joblessness.

According to him, the engagement of the interns demonstrates the commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration to human capital development and youth empowerment.

“This initiative will drastically reduce the rate of unemployment in Ogun State. When graduates are gainfully employed, the tendency for social vices is reduced. I urge the government to do even more by creating additional opportunities that will engage more qualified graduates,” OMO-ADE said.

The Ogun State Government recently engaged the 448 OgunTeach interns as part of its renewed drive to address the shortage of teachers in public primary schools, particularly in rural communities.

The engagement and posting letters were formally presented to the successful candidates at the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Secretariat in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, explained that the recruitment was strategically targeted at strengthening manpower in rural schools where the need for teachers is most acute.

He urged the interns to approach their assignments with dedication, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that the posting was deliberate and non-negotiable.

“If anyone calls me to seek a change of posting, we will immediately remove the person’s name. There are many others who are seeking this opportunity. You should appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun for making this engagement possible,” Ifede warned.

The SUBEB chairman directed the interns to resume duty immediately, adding that failure to do so would result in automatic replacement.

He also emphasized the importance of promptly submitting assumption-of-duty documents to facilitate the timely processing of salaries.

“We do not want your payment to be delayed. Salary processing will only commence for those who submit their assumption-of-duty documents early,” he said.

Ifede further charged the interns to work harmoniously with their headteachers and colleagues, describing the engagement as a call to service rather than an entitlement.

He noted that dedication, discipline and performance would play a critical role in determining their chances of being considered for permanent appointment.

“Basic education is the foundation of our educational system. We need teachers who are determined and committed to ensuring that pupils can read, write and communicate effectively,” he added.

The OgunTeach programme is one of the state government’s flagship initiatives aimed at improving the quality of basic education while simultaneously providing employment opportunities for qualified graduates across the state.
