Toyin Amuzu: A Politician Who Refuses to Sell His Soul

By Olawale Taiwo Abideen

Nigeria is bleeding. The country is hard and the people are groaning. Those at the helms of affairs have turned governance into a mafia clique, sharing our commonwealth like loot while the masses suffer in silence. Instead of standing firm, many in the opposition have shamelessly crossed over to the ruling APC, eager to collect their share of the “national cake.”

But in this marketplace of betrayal, one man stands out, Chief Toyin Amuzu (TA), the Asiwaju Leragun Egba.

For TA, politics is not about what goes into the pocket, but what comes out for the people. It is not about selling integrity for short-term gain, but about holding the line for a better future. At a time when others are decamping for crumbs, TA has chosen to remain with the people, firmly rooted in the PDP, because his politics is built on integrity, competence, fear of God, transparency and vision.

This is not the easy choice. It is the harder road. But it is the right one.

Chief Toyin Amuzu understands what leadership should be, jobs for the unemployed, dignity for the downtrodden, opportunities for the youth and a society free from oppression. He is not in politics to eat but to serve. He is not chasing largesse but chasing legacy.

When politicians switch sides at the smell of money or power, TA’s decision to remain with the people sends a powerful message: politics without conscience is nothing but banditry in agbada.

History will not remember those who ran to the ruling party for convenience. History will remember men like Chief Toyin Amuzu who, in the heat of pressure, stood with the people. His politics is a reminder that Nigeria does not lack good leaders, it only lacks leaders who are not for sale.

TA is not just a politician. He is a conviction. He is not just a member of a party. He is a believer in the people. And in times like these, such men are the hope of a better tomorrow.

TA... we rise together!

PDP... Power to the people!
