Stay Updated with Future Job Requirements — Tijani Olumide Charges Students
A call has been made to students of higher learning to keep themselves up to date with future changing job requirements.
Dr. Olumide Tijani made this call in a speech delivered at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Students' Union Government Annual Symposium and Debate Competition, organized to commemorate the 2025 SUG Week of the school. This year’s event, with the theme “Career Resilience: Navigating the Future of Work,” was held at the Raheem Oloyo Conference Hall.
As a guest speaker at the event, discussing the topic “Strategies for Acquiring New Skills and Adapting to Changing Job Requirements,” Dr. Tijani, represented by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Kamorudeen Adegbokiki, submitted that waiting to acquire new skills after graduation is no longer a smart option, but rather a decision to be taken now.
The guest speaker, Dr. Olumide Tijani, who is also the Chief Executive of Nova Care Staffing and Recruitment Ltd., Sheffield, UK, urged that “as technologies evolve, so should the young learners. Make learning a lifelong habit by focusing on adapting to changing job requirements, build a skills portfolio, seek internships and apprenticeships.”
The high point of the event was the presentation of a laptop to Okwuchi Joy, the overall winner of the debate competition on the topic: “Is Career Resilience More Important Than Relying on Innate Talent for Career Success?” A cash gift of ₦50,000 was also awarded to the second-place winner, while other participants received cash prizes in the name of Dr. Olumide Tijani.
The leadership of the students thereafter presented an Honorary Award to Dr. Tijani in appreciation of his dedication to sharing his expertise and passion in support of student learning and development.
The event has in attendance the Students' Union Executives led by the President and Honourable members of the students Representatives Council led by the Rt. Hon Elizabeth Bamgboye, Faculty Presidents amongst other student leaders.
