Calls for the Removal of AMORAN Chairman, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Over Controversial Video

Ogun State, Nigeria – The Coalition of Ogun State Indigent, United Kingdom Chapter, has called for the immediate removal of Hon. Taofeek Sokoya, the chairman of the Articulated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), following the emergence of a controversial video that has sparked widespread outrage.

In a statement released on Monday, the group's Acting Chairman, Mr. Leke Adesanya, expressed deep concern over the video, which he described as a "disgrace to Ogun State" in the eyes of both national and international audiences. The video, which has circulated widely on social media, allegedly depicts Hon. Sokoya in a compromising situation that undermines the integrity of the association and reflects poorly on the state's leadership.

"The actions displayed in the video are not only unacceptable but also tarnish the reputation of Ogun State,” Adesanya stated. “We believe that such behavior is unbecoming of a leader and does not align with the values we uphold as a community. Hon. Sokoya's continued position as chairman is detrimental to the image of our state, and we urge Governor Dapo Abiodun to take decisive action."

The Coalition, which advocates for the rights and welfare of indigent communities in Ogun State, emphasized the need for accountability and integrity among leaders. They argue that allowing Sokoya to remain in his position sends the wrong message to the youth and the broader community about the standards expected of their leaders.

Support for the call to remove Sokoya has been echoed by various community leaders and citizens who believe that the association must be led by someone who embodies the values of respect, responsibility, and dignity. Many residents have taken to social media to express their discontent, urging the governor to respond swiftly to restore public confidence in the leadership of AMORAN.

As the situation unfolds, the Coalition has pledged to mobilize further support for their cause, emphasizing that they will not rest until their demands are met. They stress the importance of a clean slate for the leadership of AMORAN and the need for representatives who can inspire trust and respect among the citizens of Ogun State.

Governor Dapo Abiodun has yet to respond to the coalition's request for action. The unfolding events have raised questions about leadership accountability in Ogun State and the role of community organizations in advocating for ethical governance.

As the public awaits the governor's response, the spotlight remains on Hon. Taofeek Sokoya and the future of AMORAN in Ogun State. The coalition and its supporters are determined to ensure that their voices are heard, advocating for a leadership that truly represents the values and aspirations of the Ogun State community.
