In a significant move to improve infrastructure and enhance mobility across Ogun State, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has announced the commencement of a comprehensive road maintenance programme which is set to benefit all local government areas. This initiative was welcomed by prominent APC chieftain, Alhaji Ismail Adebayo Yisa, affectionately known as OMO-ADE, who praised the governor for this timely intervention.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, made the announcement during an inspection tour of the Leme–Abiola Way–Madojutimi roads in Abeokuta on Tuesday. Engr. Adesina emphasized that the maintenance works will address the deteriorating condition of several key roads, significantly easing the burden on commuters and improving access for residents in various parts of the state.
Highlighting the positive impact of the initiative, Adebayo Yisa commended the governor for prioritizing the maintenance of vital routes such as Abiola Way, Olorunsogo, and Odo Eran, which are crucial for local residents. He noted that improved road conditions will facilitate smoother travel for both individuals and businesses, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for the community.
"This administration's commitment to upgrading our road infrastructure is commendable. For too long, many of our roads have been in disrepair, causing frustration among commuters and hindering economic progress. With this new initiative, we are poised to witness a transformation in travel experience and local commerce," Yisa remarked.
Engr. Adesina reiterated that the Abiodun-led administration understands the integral role roads play in economic development, stating, "We are dedicated to ensuring that every locality in Ogun State experiences the benefits of this road maintenance initiative. It is not merely a patching exercise, but a holistic approach to creating durable road networks that will foster economic growth and improve the daily lives of our people."
The initiative aligns with the state government's broader vision to support local businesses, enhance community connectivity, and stimulate the economy. By addressing both urban and rural road projects, the Ogun State Government aims to facilitate better access to services and markets for all residents.
Adesina assured the public that the road maintenance teams are fully equipped and ready to begin work immediately, with a clear mandate to cover every local government area in the state. He concluded by expressing optimism that the outcome of this initiative will lead to reduced travel times, safer journeys, and a more vibrant economic landscape across Ogun State.
As the maintenance work gets underway, residents and commuters are encouraged to remain patient and cooperate with the maintenance teams, as the ultimate goal is to create a network of roads that will serve the community for years to come.
The Ogun State Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving infrastructure, with this maintenance programme standing as a testament to its dedication to building a better future for the people of Ogun State.
