Ado-Odo Otta, Ogun State – The tragic murder of Saheed Jinadu Soboyede in Osuke town has sent shockwaves through the community and sparked a call for justice from his grieving family. Legal practitioner Olanrewaju Balogun has formally appealed to the federal government to investigate the incident that unfolded on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The gruesome killing, reportedly linked to land disputes, highlights a growing concern over land grabbing and the associated violence in the region.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect, known only as Elijah, allegedly invaded Osuke town armed with an AK-47, where he shot Saheed Jinadu Soboyede in broad daylight. The incident has raised questions about the safety and security of residents in the area, particularly as it relates to land ownership issues that have historically led to violent confrontations.

The police were alerted to the situation shortly after the shooting, but reports indicate that Elijah attempted to remove Soboyede's remains from the scene before being stopped. Eyewitnesses have expressed their disbelief at the brazen nature of the attack and the apparent ease with which the suspect operated in the open.

The Ileke family, devastated by the loss of their son, has publicly accused the police of bias in handling the case. They allege that law enforcement officials are not taking the necessary actions to ensure justice for Saheed, leading to fears that the case may not receive the attention it rightfully deserves. In a heartfelt plea, the family has called upon the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General of Ogun State to intervene and ensure that justice is served.

“We want to see justice for our son. This is not just a personal loss; it’s a loss for the entire community. We are calling on the authorities to take this matter seriously and hold the perpetrator accountable,” said a family spokesperson, who wished to remain anonymous.

The legal practitioner, Olanrewaju Balogun, has expressed grave concerns over the implications of this incident, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation by the federal government. He stated, “This is not just about one family; it’s about the rule of law and the safety of our communities. We cannot allow land grabbers to operate with impunity.”

The incident has ignited discussions about the broader issue of land grabbing in Ogun State and its ramifications for community safety. Many residents are now questioning the effectiveness of local law enforcement and the justice system in addressing such violent crimes.

As Osuke town grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy, the call for justice continues to resonate. The family of Saheed Jinadu Soboyede, supported by concerned citizens and legal advocates, is determined to see that the life lost is not forgotten and that the rights of individuals to their land are protected.
