History And The Transient Nature of Power — Rotimi Makinde

Throughout history, empires have risen and fallen, leaders have come and gone, and power has shifted from one individual or group to another. This trend continues to the present day.

When individuals or groups gain power, it's easy to become complacent and believe that their position is secure. However, this mindset can lead to a lack of vigilance and a failure to adapt to changing circumstances.

Leaders who recognize the impermanence of power are more likely to remain humble and open to new ideas. This humility allows them to build stronger relationships with their colleagues and constituents.
Empathy is essential for effective leadership.

When leaders can put themselves in others' shoes, they're better equipped to understand their needs and concerns. This helps build trust and strengthens their position.

Self-awareness is critical for leaders who want to maintain their power and influence. By recognizing their own strengths, weaknesses, and biases, leaders can make more informed decisions and avoid pitfalls.

If you're in a position of authority, remember that your power is not absolute. As Yoruba would say"Oun to n tan lodun Eegun.Masqurade festival is seasonality in nature it always has an end.Such are the positions of authority.Change is the only thing that is ever permanent in life. Why then do many ignore friends, colleagues and even family when fortune smiles on them. What exactly is in power that  got many drunk.Vanity upon vanity, all things shall pass away.

Recognize the fact that your position is not secure and that you can be held accountable for your actions in a matter of days, week month, or years, even in minutes. Be conscious of where history would place you.

Be open to feedback
and criticism, and be willing to adapt to changing circumstances.

Put yourself in others' shoes and try to understand their needs and concerns.A simple  call or respond to texts can change life.Money is not everything in life.

Recognize your own strengths, weaknesses, and biases, and be willing to make changes when necessary.Power is a fleeting concept that can be gained and lost in an instant.

Leaders who recognize the impermanence of power are more likely to remain humble, open to new ideas, and empathetic towards others. By staying self-aware and adaptable, leaders can maintain their power and influence while also making a positive impact on those around them...
